Treatment chains

Wastewater reuse systems (from water treatment to distribution or irrigation networks), are likely to evolve to integrate different objectives (notably quality and economic) depending on the uses.

The quantitative and qualitative challenges are highly dependent on the geographical and societal, urban and rural contexts, but also on the regulations in force. The questions associated with this transition of the sectors concern as well the re-evaluation of our modes of wastewater management, the adaptation of existing processes, and the development of new complementary processes. Environmental impacts assessment and multi-barrier approaches to contaminant abatement through, for example
irrigation systems and agrosystems also need to be better understood.

By associating the different stakeholders in wastewater reuse, we need to collectively carry out reflections/projects to remove certain technological barriers, evaluate breakthrough management methods and integrate the numerous constraints in multi-objective approaches.
